Health Workforce Scholarship Program 2019
“For the first time, scholarships will be allocated based on the needs of communities – whether for general practitioners, nurses, dentists or allied health professionals.”
The Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) is an initiative of the Australian Government Department of Health and is designed to improve access to health services needed in remote and rural areas across Australia by supporting an increase in skills, capacity and/or scope of practice.
The HWSP offers two types of funding:
- Scholarships: A payment up to $10,000 per year, for up to two years, toward the cost of completing a postgraduate course
- Bursaries: A payment up to $10,000 for professional development and upskilling course fees and associated accommodation and travel-related expenses
The HWSP is managed nationally by the Rural Workforce Agency Network. For more information on whether scholarships are open in your state or territory, check out your local Rural Workforce Agency: NSW | QLD | VIC | TAS | WA | NT | SA
