Using Teachback, a Telephone Communication Technique to Improve Patient Understanding of Health Information and Advice - Dianne Zalitis.
This presentation will discuss a randomised controlled trial of a communication technique used by health professionals to improve the understanding of health information provided to clients and patients.
This technique known as Teachback is primarily used in face-to-face health encounters. This randomised controlled trial looks at how this technique could be used in the telehealth environment.
In particular could it improve callers understanding of the advice they were given and the next steps they were to follow. And would callers remember the information when followed up one week later.
