Australian Views of the Health System: The Menzies Nous Australian Health Survey 2008-2012
What do Australians think of our health and aged care system? Has health reform been worthwhile, or do we still want major changes to the way the system works? Who are the winners and losers – especially with rising levels of financial stress in the community?
Jim Gillespie will look at some of the messages that have emerged from recent surveys of Australian attitudes to our healthcare system. He will draw on the three national opinion surveys run by the Menzies Centre for Health Policy and the Nous Group in 2008, 2010, and 2012. These surveys covered attitudes towards primary care services and aged care and looked at regional differences to give us a picture of where our health system is heading and some of the possible directions for reform.
