Embracing Technology and Social Media to Promote Primary Health Care
Hot on Health is an educational platform designed to make health information easy to understand and accessible using viral videos and articles across the internet and social media. Given we live in what might be the greatest technological boom in history, we are seeing an increase in people searching for their own health-related information. Unfortunately, not all information online is credible, which leads to myths and poor health outcomes. Furthermore, this increased use of technology is making our society more sedentary, thereby increasing preventable chronic illnesses. Rather than working against the rise in technology,
Hot on Health aims to use a technology to dilute the pool of bad information with well researched, evidence-based content that is delivered in an engaging and millennial style. Using a website and social media the content is readily accessible, with all resources provided to the public for transparency. This increased awareness and appreciation for health will promote wellness and preventative healthcare amongst the public.
